Re: Site Suggestions
We can't add polls to replies but for now if you post a suggestion, people can simply post if they support or don't support an idea/suggestion, and also why they believe what they believe about it.
If I post that it won't happen, it's not going to happen. For some suggestions I'll admit that I can't add something, but if it's really good then I will try to get it going. For example, I don't currently know how to add Clan Points to accounts (hence our list), but I'd like to do that. Maybe the CPs could also unlock icons (stars, orbs, something like that). Apparently forummotion provides really good help so my general feeling is that if the idea is sound, they've heard it before and they may have a solution.

Re: Site Suggestions
You could probably look at any forum currency plugin and simply change "Forum Gold" to "Clan Points". I would like the idea of Clan Points being used to unlock stars. Personally I would like some stars on here, and I think Clan Points would be a good means of unlocking the stars. This could provide some further incentive to obtain Clan Points, such as capping, recruiting, etc.
Re: Site Suggestions
That may work out really well. The star templates here aren't the most gorgeous things in the world but I could ask around for better ones. I tested them and I got them to work. It's possible it may be hard to put them out without using the rank system, but I was hoping to save the ranks system for our RS ranks. Surely there' s a solution to run them independently.
Our groups are already set as typical forum groups--not to be confused with ranks (ofc).

Re: Site Suggestions
Along with some form of currency and cosmetic stars, I would be curious about what options are available for integrating forum games in to the site. Obviously not as advanced as Ladder Slasher, but perhaps chess/checkers, snake or even naughts and crosses.
Most likely they would end up being an unused function, but it might be an interesting avenue to look further in to.

Re: Site Suggestions
I was thinking about that There is only some kind of weird role playing "dice" game offered by the software, but I can almost surely get the codes for other games. I started to worry that maybe it would take people away from Runescape though
It's definitely an idea I like, but I want to see how many people request it. If the clan expands and gets very active, there's no question I would add games.

Re: Site Suggestions
Update: in the navigation bar nest to log out, you will see "Are You Drunk?" -- it's our game for now It's painful to find game codes that don't redirect to host sites (no better than posting a link) or that even fit our forms for redirecting links.
SO: if we can get the FULL html code for a game, that's the way to go. Unfortunately most games require permission. I had a version of Pong that worked in test mode but when I set it to open in a new window (so it doesn't close the forum), it failed I may try again
Please feel free to PM me to submit a code, but DO NOT submit codes without permissions from the game authors or that aren't free to share. You can also submit your own games. I'd need the entire html code.
I'll only accept games that are PM'd to me within this format

Re: Site Suggestions
This is a note to self to check for more emoticons soon. I think we have had some added by the forum itself--maybe they're unlocked or maybe the software got some kind of update. Or I just didn't notice some of them before
But I will see what I can do to update our emoticon list

Re: Site Suggestions
We should add Runescape Name into our post bits. For instance, we have Posts, Clan Points, etc; we should add one for our IGN, just for simple reference when chatting with people on here. Maybe even add a real name/jsp name field.

I will probably check into this. The Admin CP side of things allows some additional fields but they'r e alittle wonky. If I played with the graphical side of them it may just work out I have some html options but only in some areas.
Re: Site Suggestions
Has there been any more progress on a stars system? Especially if we were able to buy them using clan points.
Having a purpose, even if it's only a small one, for accumulating them would be awesome - and might encourage more members to participate in CP awarding events.

Re: Site Suggestions
The only problem I see with CP being used to purchase them is the fact that Deputy Owner+ do not earn any Clan Points, so I am not sure how we would work out Deputy Owner+ getting them. Wouldn't be fair if we got them by default.

Well we could have a way to get them ... but yeah it's a tricky thing. I haven't updated our CP system for posts/profiles in a while, partly because it consumes one space where we could use something like stars. I'm a bit stuck on what to do in that area right now. Another matter would be getting icons people would like.
Maybe people could just self-select icons. Like posting them and then getting them. But then that takes away from the idea of setting up a challenge to get them. This is stuff that I will definitely think about on & off, and it's probably worth bumping these ideas or reformulating them sometimes. That way maybe it would help provide a new angle for them
Re: Site Suggestions
I've been felt like there's been something missing for awhile but just haven't been able to quite picture what it was. But finally remembered what it was today and that's a shoutbox.
Would that be possible?
For those that don't know what it is for whatever reason it works the exact same way as the *latest topic* function works. Except it's a chat box that you can post a small message in. (Meant for 1-2 phrases max or maybe a link) as it's not something to replace topics with, but can help with keeping clutter to a minimum as topics would not need to be made for every small little thing.
Just a short and sweet mechanisim to communicate with and something I encourage on almost all community based forums.

Re: Site Suggestions
Great Idea dread.... This would be great or a sort mini chat system at the top or bottom of the screen for quicker communication about smaller matters and just to say hi.
OFC this would mean more work for Rew if it's event possible on this forum style

Re: Site Suggestions
It is a great idea, so I should ask how many people have seen our Chat Box (like a Shout Box) that has been at the bottom of our main page since about when the forum started. Maybe it's not visible. Let's troubleshoot it

is there anyway to track topics? or favorite them?

Re: Site Suggestions
Yea Rew i'm not seeing said shout box, where exactly should it be?
I also was wondering, Is there any way to make certain threads by page rather than one long page? for instance clan drop thread is getting rather large and difficult to navigate. Although this could be due to large posts with the pictures

Pretty sure you can filter the amount of posts pr page, under your settings if that's what you mean/would help?
And I've seen the chat/shout box at the bottom of forum, it kind of comes and goes at it pleases though. He/she must be working on a flex hour schedule.

Yes, you can both track topics and favourite them. To watch a topic for replies, click "Watch this topic for replies" at the bottom of the page on the right-hand side, right above the Quick Reply box. To favourite a topic, click "Actions" -> "Add to your favourites" at the top of the page on the right-hand side, just underneath the search box.

I see the ChatBox at the bottom of the forum list page (https://labyrinthclan.forumotion.com/forum). While that is where the "Home" link takes you, I would call https://labyrinthclan.forumotion.com the home/main page...

Re: Site Suggestions
I click the top banner (provided by gothnacht@d2jsp) and it takes me to the home page to see the chat. It is the way I generally access the forum. But I almost always have the forum up.
I am not sure if it is possible to shift it around so it can be viewed in various places, but I will check into it. What actually bugs me about the Chat is that it logs me out of itself.

Re: Site Suggestions
Is there any way to scale down the image posts so our pictures fit the screen better similar to jsp? They seem to be cut off fairly often, or should we just simply crop our images smaller?

Re: Site Suggestions
I don't have any experience in page formatting but we may have a fix. For now, definitely crop or re-size images for now. tinypic (which is crap) may still offer free re-sizing. The image host I use doesn't re-size. It would be a neat idea to linka re-sizer to the forum.
Don't download anything or trust this link just because I found it, but perhaps this could help: http://www.picresize.com/

Re: Site Suggestions
Think I may have fixed it up. Check out Kay's achievement topic, as he posts full-size images, or Meg's. The default re-size is 800x450, which seems to look fine for my halved window, and there is a button to view the enlarged version of the image as well. Let me know how that looks.
