LOL it is, isn't it? "Here are my achievements, I'm going to post 1-60 for every skill"
ofc good luck on your goals Matt. I'm sure I will be trying to convert you to the "dark side". If I have any advice it is this: define your purist how you wish to define it. 'Purist' has different meanings on RS, and eventually you'll find out that in some way your character isn't a 'purist'. Some won't accept aid, some will sell stuff they find at GE but not buy, some will neither sell nor buy but just collect, some will buy from NPS, some will not ... etc..
Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Gave up very quickly on this Purist, unfortunately. Just going to continue as normal on my main.
I have actually wanted to make one of these topics on d2jsp but never could bring myself to make one there, so I am making one here.BossQQ wrote:Gl with progress and a sneaky way to win the post count on the forum

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Currently bought materials for:
- 85 Firemaking (78 atm)
- 80 Fletching (70 atm)
- 80 Cooking (71 atm)
The plan is to get all of the above done in that order. In addition, I plan on Farming my own materials for Herblore. Had a very nice chat about Farming with CKV and he brought up a great point that trees suck up a lot of money just for a level boost. It's more beneficial to Farm herbs that may be used for Herblore to save huge amounts of money. Pretty much I am only buying secondaries and vials of water. No real issue with making (unf) potions. If I am smart I will just make the (unf) potions while I Farm so in the end it is not a daunting task.
So that is my plan of action that will likely keep me very busy. Of course I do plan on capping the World Event daily as well for that daily Huge XP Lamp.

Totally missed the 79 Firemaking screenshot, got logged out to the lobby lol.
Going to stop at 80 Firemaking for now so I can tackle 80 Cooking and 80 Fletching, then go back and get to 85 Firemaking. After that I need to figure out what my next few level 80 skills are going to be. Good chance I am going to just get Strength, Defence, Ranged, and Slayer out of the way. Perhaps by the time I hit 80 Slayer I will be able to fund some of the costly level 80s.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Very nice work You're creeping right up to the 2000 total level mark now. To me that was one of the "biggest" of all accomplishments. It's partly aesthetic, but it's partly about really grinding toward something, too. wc + fm go well together, but ivy is a hecka good way to get wc done so you can make gp faster doing other stuff
I tried out crystal trees and I liked them with a tree-shaking scrimshaw (I think it requires 94 wc). Neat rewards, makes wc a little more bearable.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Thanks! Really aiming for 2000 total, it has been such a long goal of mine and I am honestly very close right now. The only discouraging part is that I still have around 5 skills I need to get to level 80 in order to actually hit the 2000 total mark.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Was actually thinking about doing some Dungeoneering, it is probably an easy way to get up to 2000 total faster since it's quite easy to level. Perhaps I can get myself up to 85 Dungeoneering so I can use Frost Dragons as a way of getting money for some of the obnoxiously expensive skills.
Thanks, I like to keep everything pretty much the same level. I can thank Dungeoneering for that one -- screwed over in one aspect and not in another, now it's even playing field lol.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Hard to say at this time, to be honest. There were plans on getting 99 Mining, given that I am rather close, but I would rather everything be at or around the same level. ^^
Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Missed quite a few screenshots and have been forgetting to update this for a couple days. Going to be more diligent moving forward, though the lack of updates has not kept me from going after my goal full force. Not going to quite make my goal of 2000 total level by the close of this weekend, but I should be there by this upcoming Friday, I am confident.
As for my plans on raising money for some of these costly skills, I am going to be doing a mix of Herb runs, Slayer, Blue Dragons, and Flipping. Just recently sold out my excess materials and Slayer tab, which put me up around 7M (Now at 18M), so that gives me some more money to flip with. I was around +700k today between just one herb run and some flipping. If I am diligent with my herb runs, and once I get the hang of flipping, I could be looking at some higher gains.
Note to Self: re-organize bank!

1981--just about there
Maybe you & Jake The Snake will be racing to max :O
Please update your flip progress; I'd be curious to see how it goes. I would offer tips but tips can sometimes lead people astray just because flipping is itself a risky business. I like to flip combat-oriented items, but it can be risky to say the least--partly due to the expense of the items in case they don't flip so well.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Yeah I am getting there. Going to be working on Dungeoneering a lot I think, even beyond 80 into the 90s, depending on how well today goes. Officially going to be exploring the skill in great detail today. Recently asked for advice on the RSOF and got an incredible reply from someone, and I want to put their advice to practice ASAP.
71 Fishing
Flipping Progress thus far:
18,231,921 -- When I started my Flipping
18,810,540 -- Current Money Pouch
Still a bit of a noob at this but I think it's just knowing what items to flip. Staying away from combat items just because it's more risky as you said. Only doing resources for now. May ask you for advice on combat items when I start getting into this more.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
We can talk about flips any time I'd like to find out what you were told about Dung (I'm still on the long road to 120)
Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
If you're not already I'd recommend flipping battlestaffs (just the regular ones).
A pretty solid and stable item that's always in demand and relativly affordable with your current money pouch if you do 500-1k intervals as you'll need to resell via rsof.
Also any chance you could link your rsof thread on divination? I'm just curious since I haven't spent much time in the skill yet either.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Will hit you up sometime in-game, Rew, and I generally like to do all my flipping on the GE just because I cannot be bothered with the RSOF selling lol.
Here is the Dungeoneering advice I was given: http://services.runescape.com/m=forum/forums.ws?150,151,580,65263148.
I was initially upset nobody replied in over a day, but I certainly don't mind waiting for this kind of reply. Not sure if there is any misinformation, but so far everything she told me has been spot on, even the thing about Red/Green keys, which I found to be awesome. My average time went from 20 - 25 minutes down to around 12 - 15 minutes, just from using the advice she posted. Very happy, and my plan is to quite simply go nuts until Hati/Skoll is released, then I shall be using the bonus experience for Divination.
Random question: anyone know if you can get multiple sets of Hati/Skoll items? Like if I use up all the bonus XP, can I go back for a recharge? I feel like no, but I want to double-check. ^^

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Currently have a new plan. I keep changing but this time it will stick because it's really angering me. My goal is Quest Cape, only because everywhere I look there is another damned quest requirement I have not fulfilled. So, I am going to be getting all the skills necessary for Quest Point Cape, then I will hammer them out one by one. Then I will do the same for all of the Easy, Medium, and Hard Task Sets.
In addition, the goal is to have an income of around 2m a day for "training days". For days where my focus is to get money, the goal will be 6m for those days. These income goals will change as I am able to use higher methods than what I am currently doing, which is Blue Dragons. I am very content with this method of making money, as it is stable and I can actually do it for hours without getting bored, surprisingly.
Progress Toward All Skill Requirements:
- 78/85 Strength
- 73/82 Smithing
- 71/77 Agility
- 70/76 Crafting
- 70/74 Thieving
71 Agility
78 Dungeoneering
1988 Total Level

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Sweet almost at 2k now and quest cape is a nice thing to achieve. Loads of xp to be hoarded and luxury rewards from the harder quests.
The newbie quests are a drag though, but atleast you get spins.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Yeah I am closing in on 2k, so excited! Getting all of the QPC requirements will get be up to the goal of 2k total so I might as well.
For sure lol, I think that is what makes me hesitant but I am getting so annoyed with some of the quest requirements so I want it done as soon as possible.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
That's a great goal! Not to mention that as you go through the Quests you'll pop well over the 2k mark
Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
That's kind of what I was thinking. In order to make my account remotely respectable, I think I should get the quests completed and complete majority of the task diaries. It will add to how happy I am with my account.
75 Herblore
77 Construction
Early bed night, so not a whole lot of progress. But I have a long weekend and plan on getting Agility and Thieving done at the very least. The rest are a bit tricky, like 85 Strength and Crafting/Smithing. Strength because I only train combat via Slayer or moneymaking and Crafting/Smithing are going to break the bank.
e/ So I guess Smithing and Crafting have a cheap alternative that I am going to fully utilize. Only going to cost me around 12M, which I should be able to make if I properly alternate between training and money-making and keep up with my herb runs. By the time I reach all the levels needed apart from Crafting and Smithing, I should have made enough money.

So I got extremely tired last night and crashed, so it looks like I'll just be going for 77 Agility today. Might start dumping all my Huge XP Lamps into Agility. Going to be getting 4 XP Lamps today after the World Event, so that's an easy 80k experience boost for Agility.
e/ Really spacing out my Agility training. Trying not to burn myself out, so I am doing various D&Ds and I have no intentions of dodging our Dungeoneering run tonight. ^^
e2/ So I tried QBD because I have been wanting to get my Royal Crossbow for a while. That went extremely bad. Died a bunch of times, wasted like 2m getting the damn unforged crossbow and like an added 400k on supplies. Beyond annoyed that I am unable to do this.

Going to be grinding Dungeoneering for a little bit. I am running rather low on money and I need a fair bit of coin for the Smithing and Crafting skill requirements. Once I get the money needed after Frost Dragons, I shall continue getting all the skills needed for QPC.

Thanks, and it most certainly is! Doing some incredible damage to Blue Dragons now. I was going to be camping Frost Dragons, but they are so much effort for the same hourly rates (with my current stats), so I am back here lol.
I will post up some numbers on how much money I need for 73 - 80 Smithing and 71 - 76 Crafting, and I'll post some daily money progress. Not going the cheap route -- going to put forth the effort for faster rates because I want them done ASAP.
e/ Going to need 44M to get both Smithing and Crafting done. This isn't the exact amount it will end up costing with reselling the products, but it's the amount needed to purchase everything all at once.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Nice work -- I guess if you have Magic Notepaper you could use it to stack more bones/hides for a while (if not using it). I have always found that when I seek abundance, there's usually a way to reach it. I just try not to get discouraged by big numbers.
My own issue is that I lose focus on one objective and start to chase too many things. I keep telling myself to save up for a second party hat yet I've spent a few billion GP since I started with that aim

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Haha yeah that happens to me as well. During my no-life Dungeoneering, I kind of got hooked into it and may try for 99. It's just so fun, so I may do that to break up the grind for money. Think I may just stick to an income goal daily as I said before and just do my thing. Makes it a job more than a game when I seek out JUST money. ^^
Also got 400 Magic Notepaper that I plan to use up today.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Inspired by you I went to the Ogre cave to kill Blue Dragons. It went really well but I brought too many supplies for my character.
I need to balance and simplify my RS goals, and I should probably update my achievement topic to make that process visible (and as a reminder to myself):
- get party hat
- get 120 dung, finish the dung task set and complete Invention when it arrives; look to the Comp Cape (even Trimmed) but don't go nuts to get it
It's that simple yet I don't move on it. Enough of this
LOL

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
You shouldn't need to bring anything at all really, at your level and Gear. Just a Super antifire and a Pack Yak should be enough. Bring Winter Storage scrolls if you want to virtually camp them all day. If you do that bring a little emergency food; otherwise bring 1 shark I'd say. Personally I use 2 sharks and a normal antifire. They die so quick that I don't really need the Super antifire, though I do briny normal Antifire ofc.

- 4M Profit
- 77 Agility

I forget Plunder rates at 70+ so I'm not sure if I could do 70-74 tonight. doubtful given my other goals. ^^

Alright, haven't been posting progress lately because I have honestly been no-lifing Runescape a bit. Here is my progress for the past few days:
Did a ton of Stealing Creation prior to pursuing this, by the way. Had enough bonus XP for 71-76 saved up, and enough for 73-79 Smithing.
81 Ranged -- Showed an 80 for Some Reason
82 Magic -- Superheating is crazy exp!
77 Agility
72 - 76 Crafting
74 - 79 Smithing
71 - 74 Thieving
The plan is to finish up the last 187k experience until 80 Smithing, then finally go through the quests. I am hoping to use these spins to get some of the Farming Seed Bags that were released this weekend.

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Haha yeah, the hourly rates were insane because I had a lot of bonus experience. Then Thieving via Blackjacking is really good experience as well. Mentally taxing, however.
Now I am just questing away because I got the last requirement:

Re: Bringing Home the Beacon
Thanks! And I plan on it, ofc. This will probably take me at least a couple weeks, just because some of these quests are actually quite long and I have around 150 of them to complete.
